Meggie is twelve years old and lives in Italy with her father, Mortimer, but she calls him Mo. Mo is a bookbinder which means whatever he reads comes to life. When Meggie has nightmares she reads in her father’s room. Nothing allows her to fall asleep better than a book and Mo’s soft breathing. When she sleeps she swears she hears the books whispering to her. Mo has told Meggie the truth about everything or so she thinks. Mo is a tall young fellow. He has a twelve o’clock shadow and dark brown hair that flows backwards no matter what.

The book sold millions across the world and has been translated into several different languages, including English in 2008. It also has two films, one filmed in 2009, and the most recent one in 2011. I believe the novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson is one of the best crime novels on the shelves because of the twisting plot lines of the story, the dynamics of the characters, and the style of writing that Stieg Larsson uses.…

The title of this book relates to the story, because in the book, Ponyboy and Johnny are "outsiders." They can be thought of as Outsiders because they are labeled Greasers although they do not act like hoodlums, like the rest of the Greasers. They are thought of as Greasers just because they live on the East Side of town, and because they slick back their hair. But Ponyboy and Johnny are different then all of the other Greasers because they show their emotions, and are sensitive.…

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli is one of the most eye opening books I have ever read, it will keep you on your toes, make you think, and show you things you have never seen before. Spinelli dosent just drag you through the pages of Stargirl, he sends you running. Stargirl is a book about a girl who isnt like anybody else, she was homeschooled all of her life until her 10th grade year when she showed up at Mica High school and changed everyones lives. I thought the book opens peoples eyes to how self centered someone can be and how they only think about themsleves. When everyone starts ignoring Stargirl for caring for others besides them it shows you how selfish people can be. In conclusion, The book made me think about my actions and better them, made me open my eyes to how people can feel, and how being you is the best thing you can ever do.…

Perhaps the most striking part of Blood and Thunder is the famed and fabled Kit Carson himself. He begins the book as a duty-driven youth who is able to kill anyone or anything without a sense of remorse, likely because of his experiences with the harshness of life as a child. However, once he begins to have a family—a real family, one he raises and takes care of and looks after—he begins to shift. Carson begins to balk at some killings, even going so far as to decry the killing of indian warriors at Carleton’s order.…
