Inmate Call Solutions Case

At the Livingston County Jail in Michigan, the Sheriff’s Office is ready to extend Inmate Calling Solutions' contract for another three years, pending the Board of Commissioners final approval.

At the jail, all visits are through a video visitation system. While visits via a computer screen are less personal and dehumanizing, the policy does increase the number of visiting hours at the facility. Family members who cannot visit the jail in person can use the video visitation system from their home, if they have a broadband Internet connection and they possess a webcam, for a $10 fee. If the person cannot use Inmate Calling Solutions' remote visitation system, they will have to travel a long distance only to visit their family member via a computer in a cubicle.
Inmate Calling Solutions, in partnership with VizVox, is paying Livingston County a 46 percent commission on inmate calls.
Families pre-pay Inmate Call Solutions so that their loved one can call them at IC Solutions' rates. In addition, the county receives a $45,000 bonus payment each year, with the terms staying the same in the new contract. With the jail's capacity of 411 inmates, the county is making a significant amount of money. The contract also specifics that the jail will receive the latest video visitation
software.
