The movies The Way and The Road Within are both about inner journeys. But they are very different. In The Way there are some inner obstacles they have to get over and you can’t see their problems, you have to figure them out yourself. But they are pretty easy to understand. In The Road Within the characters have mental issues they have to fight to get over, so it’s really easy to see what issues are. But it’s very hard to understand their inner journeys.
I’m going to compare the fathers in the films. They both want their sons to follow their footsteps, but their sons want to live their own lives not their fathers’. Both Tom and Robert are businessmen who are very hard on their sons. The difference is that Tom might be angry at Daniel's decision but he accepts him. While Robert is ashamed of Vincent due to his tix and want’s to change him. Both Robert and Tom want their children to have a bright future and would do anything for them. In the beginning they are both very into business and are pretty strict. As the time goes they both realize things and you can clearly see that they’ve changed in the end. They probably realize that they haven't been the best fathers and that their is more to life than work and money. In the end both fathers have really changed. In the beginning Tom’s a businessman and in the end he decides to travel the world. While Robert goes from a businessman to a father who respects his son for who he is and also respects his decisions. I think that in the end of the film the see everything from a different perspective. As a result they no longer think that business are the most important thing. They find new things that are important in their lives and value them
