Inquiry Paper Powerpoint
An inquiry paper, what in the world is that? That was the exact thought that went through my mind when my teacher introduced the type of paper I had to do. An inquiry paper sounded like a business plan where I had to make a PowerPoint into a ten-page essay. I remember clearly thinking that ten pages of insanity will most definitely kill me, or at least leave me half dead. Maybe I will even develop a phobia of writing. It is even worst that research comes with it too. I had no idea what my central research question was going to be, then I had a sudden nasty flashback of the times where the days I just have no motivation, felt lazy, and just burrito myself in blankets while watching sappy romance movies. I knew I wanted my paper to center around …show more content…

The good old fashion internet. I felt like hitting search was like the worst mistake I have ever made. Multiple articles showed up as OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) and I look at those articles that were side by side like what this this, did I type in the wrong thing? I could have sworn the search results were mocking me when I continued to look further. Even till now, I still have no idea where OCD comes into play with obsessive infatuation, however; Helen Fisher (one of the readings I had to read for my sources) argues that young couple in love have similar brain activity as a person with OCD. The hot and heavy lovers can’t stop thinking of each other. There were articles that talked about the basics of the types of stalkers and how it will most likely start because the people who wrote the articles only have little knowledge of the topic. I stopped looking for articles on the massive search engine, I went straight to University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee library to find sources that will be more than opinions and useless information. I found three sources on the library website where they are all books that could be scholarly but I had to be sure so I did some research on the people who wrote it and the book itself. Then, the website took me to a different site because the UWM library did not have the material and I had to sign up for who knows what. I decided to use my

A research question, which is more specific and focused than a general topic, is the question that your research paper will be answering. For example, if your general area of interest is social security, a possible research question might ask “How can low-income families save more money if the United States had a reformed social security plan that includes personal retirement accounts?”…

    1. I want to start with a picture of a doughnut. The reason why is because when we see it you begin to salivate because you might want to eat a doughnut. But it also has a hole in it, and if you were to stick your finger through the hole in a doughnut, that a lot like food moving through the hole that is your digestive system. In other words its going to move all the way from your mouth out your anus. But its not realy inside of you. Just like the food that goes through your digestive system is not technically inside your body, its just moving through a hole in your body. At the beginning of the year it felt like I would have never been able to write any paper that was more than two pages long, it just seemed impossible, but for the research paper I actually had to stop myself from going off and writing a twelve page paper. I will admit and say that English is not my strong suit, in fact it is probably one of my more difficult classes. But just because it is difficult does not mean I don’t like it. I like looking for topics that interest me and still fit in with the guidelines, I like getting involved in the paper and researching the topic until it feels like my head is about to explode. I never saw any of that coming, I thought that I was going to have to go through English and just pray…

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, commonly referred to as OCD, occurs when a person is constantly troubled by a pattern of intrusive, distressing thoughts and repetitive behaviors. This common disorder is very complex in its definition. The obsessions themselves are only half the definition of OCD. Obsessions are different from compulsions, and OCD patients can either show signs of one or both. According to Childhood Education, the clinical definition of “obsession” refers to the thoughts, impulses, urges, or…

They will be allowed to choose a topic that relates to the subject material they are currently learning. To write a quality paper the students will need to research their topic thoroughly and determine a position they would like to argue for or against. Then, they will need to understand the counter-arguments of their stance and construct a high-quality defense for their topic while acknowledging where it may be lacking in support. Students will feel a sense of autonomy because they will be allowed to choose what they will write about and simultaneously improve their critical thinking skills in the process. Further, students will be provided with a rubric that will outline what is expected of them but they will have plenty of maneuverability within the parameters of the assignment. Through observation and criterion-referenced assessment, the teacher will receive a clearer understanding of the students’…

Since I am a sluggish writer who “has to” complete everything in the last minute before the deadline, writing a twenty-pages research paper is tons of work for me. It is also very challenging for me to organize various sentences and ideas together to demonstrate my arguments. I also have some frequent problems with word choice and prepositions. Other times my instructors would think the…

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a potentially disabling condition that can persist throughout a person 's life. An individual who suffers from OCD becomes trapped in a pattern of repetitive thoughts and behaviors that are irrational and upsetting but extremely difficult to overcome. OCD occurs in a spectrum from mild to severe, but if a severe case goes untreated, it can destroy a person 's ability to function at work, school, or even in the home. In OCD, it is as though the brain gets stuck on a particular thought or urge and just can 't let go. My research will focus on three main aspects of Obsessive-compulsive disorder: 1) What causes it, 2) What are the symptoms, and 3) What are the treatments that can curb its sometimes debilitating effects.…

    My Senior Activism

My high school required every senior to write a ten to a fifteen-page research paper on an issue or crisis that you were interested in and in order to graduate you would have to get a passing grade. For the research paper, you had to pick a topic that you were passionate about and one that you are willing to work on your whole senior year. The research paper would include everything you learned about while researching, your activism, what you did to solve the issue and lastly, why you chose the topic and how it changed you as a person. My writing would determine whether I graduated. I had worked hard for four years and I did not want a fifteen-page paper to set me back. This was not just a research paper, it was also my senior activism project…
