The “Experiencing the Flow” model is an instructional systems human-centred design model for e-learning. It respects and places the learner’s learning needs and desire at the center, and pays attention to how it can be adaptable to their working life. It invites the learner along with all the other stakeholders involved in the development process, to co-create learning solutions which will serve the learner’s and the organization’s needs. The engagement basis of this model is the “Flow Experience” coming from the area of Positive Psychology . It refers to the learners’ experience and aims to help them reach optimum levels of engagement leading to improved workplace performance.The concepts, which the different phases of the model consist of, will be discussed more in detail in this chapter as they form the learning frame where the learner’s “flow experience” is deployed. The implementation of these concepts is supported by different kind of narrative approaches. The model has so far been applied to in a corporate environment and resulted in outstanding business related outcomes (sales). The initial phase of this model isthe“Influential Inquiry” phase , which refers to the needs assessment processes and further organizational aspects’ analysisneeded for thedesign and development of the e-learning project.
