Dear Instructor Fisher, according to Google’s definition search, the idea of memorandums came to the English language as most words have, from Latin roots. It originated as the term “memorable”, this term in its original use was as an adjective rather than our interpretation of it now to be a noun. The purpose of a memorandum also commonly known as a memo is used in the similar fashion as it had been at the time of its origination, which is to make note/record of something for future reference. These documents are generally written to be a short informal though sometimes formal note, reminder, or advisement.
