Insurgent Research Paper
In my opinion I liked the novel Insurgent (by Veronica Roth) better than the film

Insurgent because the novel had more events that the film missed out, the novel had more characters that played big roles who the film missed out or didn’t show as much and the characters I pictured looked different than in the film.

I liked the novel Insurgent better than the movie Insurgent because the novel had more events that the movie missed out. I think the novel had more events that the movie missed out because in the novel, Tris saves Peter when an Erudite women was about to shoot him in Amity headquarters. “My hands collide with the man, and the bullet hits the wall instead of him. Instead of me” (Roth 82). This incident turned out to be helpful

I think the novel had more characters that played important roles who the movie left out or didn’t show as much of because Marcus was shown throughout the whole novel and was very important. He told Tris about the important information and helped Tris get to Erudite to get the information from Jeanine. “If you find the computer you will find Jeanine” (487). In this quote Marcus was with Tris trying to stop Jeanine. This proves the novel had more characters that played important roles who the movie missed out or didn’t show as much because in the movie, Marcus was only shown a few times at the beginning and didn’t do anything too important besides telling Tris that Jeanine has important information that her parents died protecting. In the novel Cara also played an important role in helping the royal dauntless during the attack from Erudite and Dauntless traitors. “There she evacuated a group of loyal Dauntless—including Tobias—to a fire escape the Dauntless traitors had not sealed off” (196). Cara also helped at the ending in getting into Erudite to get the information from Jeanine. This proves the novel had more characters that played important roles who the movie missed out or didn’t show as much because in the movie, Cara is not shown at all and not even mentioned. In the novel Zeke is another character who played an important role, by collecting information from the Erudite and by saving Tori who then became a dauntless leader. “The traitor Dauntless found out we were collecting information from them” (227). This proves the novel had more characters that played important roles who the movie missed out or didn’t show as much because in the movie Zeke wasn’t shown at all but his bother Uriah was. In conclusion the reason I liked the novel better than the film because the novel

It has often been stated in the Nation Football League that offense sells tickets while defense wins championships. That being said most teams implore either some version of the 3-4 schemes or the 4-3 schemes. While both defenses consist of a seven man front (7 players within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage) and used primarily to shut down opposing offenses running games we will examine the two to see which one is overall more effective in our guest to reach the promise land.…

In my mind the book was very interesting. Some parts most readers could have dealt with less detail such as his abusive childhood. The book was extremely accurate coming from a Navy Seals point of view. All of the missions most readers have heard about have more details that the news couldn’t tell you. To me the book was very important, I like to know what how someone could go through something like becoming a Navy Seal and how they survive. Every detail was important to the story because if the author didn’t say what was said then the book could have been completely different.…

Although, the last year’s super bowl champions, the Patriots use the 4-3 defense. If you take a look at all the teams who record is 5-0, they all use a 3-4 defense. Football’s 3-4 defense has become a very popular defense in the last couple of years thanks to teams like the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chief. Since the 3-4 defense can cause mass for quarterbacks, while also stopping the run by filling the gaps it is the best…

The first noticeable major difference is how the story is told. In the novel, Jon Krakauer writes from his own point of view, providing his own input and opinions on McCandless, while the film is told in his sister’s point of view; she is scarcely mentioned in the novel, aside from the fact that Chris was very fond of her. The shift in narrators in a way limits the amount of information that can be delivered to the audience. Though the narration by Chris’s sister adds a more…

S.E. Hinton was only 15 years old when she wrote this extremely detailed book. I liked her book a lot because of how much detail she put into it. I didn’t like the movie a lot because I was kind of expecting it to be a lot like the book but was disappointed when it left out many different parts of the book. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the book was more effective in telling the story.…

The settings I imagined while reading the book were very different from what I saw in the movie. Some of the characters such as Kenny and Byron were shorter than I imagined, but Joetta was taller than I imagined her and Grandma Sands looked very different than I imagined. I thought she would be tiny, really old looking, and very mean. She wasn’t really any of those. The settings were very different such as the church and the Watsons house. I thought they would be more dated. Their house wasn’t modern, but wasn’t as old as I imagined from the context clues in the book. Overall I liked the movie better because it had more information about racism and I felt I learned more about it. I think I would like the movie even better if it had Rufus as a character, but it was still a great…

For instance, in the movie it portrays that there are three goat herders, one is a man and two are boys. In the book it is different, “But unlike the movie, only one of them was a boy, not two”(Similarities & Differences). The people the portrayed the goat herders is a small difference, but the number of Taliban the the four SEALs fought off has been a very big controversy. In the book the number of Taliban is a lot bigger than the ones in the movie, “In the Lone Survivor movie, the SEALs are ambushed by approximately 50 Taliban fighters. However, the book asserts that the Taliban fighters consisted of between ‘80 and 200 armed men’” (Similarities & Differences). Overall, Lone Survivor is a great movie and Berg did a great job from transitioning the book onto the the big screen even though there are…

The most surprising thing about this film was the sheer brutality directed at the Native Americans in both real life and in film. In Reel Injun, I saw so many different times where the Natives were ostracized, beaten, and even killed. People started bringing the films to life and pushing stereotypes onto these people. When they fought back, we labeled them as wild and savage and ignored them as we took over their lands and homes. The clips in the film where we see glimpses of movies portraying them as the ones attacking us for no reason only further lead to violence and hatred. It was scary to see the image change from noble to savage so quickly.…

Some actors acted and appeared entirely different in the movie than the book. The directing and special effects were okay in some scenes, but half-baked and lousy in others. Furthermore, the characters are developed far less in the film and many semi-important scenes in the novel are excluded in the film. Do not watch this movie unless you have read the novel (or even if you have read it). If you haven’t read the book and decide to watch the movie instead, you will fail to understand the complicated relationships between each character and between the Socs and Greasers and just think the movie is substandard and all aspects of the movie lacked in action, emotion, or just seemed like they were not well thought out. A 3.5/10 may seem harsh, but I was not pleased. Just go read the book instead. It had the potential to be a great film, but severely missed the…

The last difference that I'm going to talk about is the themes, or main points, of the book versus the movie. The book was mainly about the hardships that people go through and about the fixing gaps between the rich and the poor. The book expressed the characters emotions and feelings, and the tone is melodramatic and a bit sad. In the movie, however, I don't even…

First of all, one of the biggest reasons the movie is better than the book is because of the quality of the flashbacks. In the book the flashbacks were more set in the past and much longer, sometimes too drawn out and a little boring for how much background story there is for just one day dream, whereas in the movie the daydreams are a bit shorter but more set in the present and more affect by what he does in that moment with little background because of how short they are and how close to the present they may be. The daydreams are usually much more exciting in the movie as well, whereas in the book it's set back to just a boring doctor surgery, that was…
