PART 1 CELL: HOW OUR
UNDERSTANDING HAS
CHANGED

In the 1600s the theory of living organisms is explained by Spontaneous Generation.
Spontaneous Generation stated that all life arose abruptly from inanimate matter. Later in 1653, Robert C. Hooke discovers the cell while he is looking at a slice or cork through a microscope at 50x. After many years of research from voluminous scientist, in the late 1800s Theodor
Schwann proposes that all living things are made of cells.

PART 2 HISTORICAL EVENT:
HURRICANE ANDREW 1992

Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida on August 24 th, 1992. It killed 15 people and many more died from injuries caused by the storm and the aftermath. Hurricane Andrew changed the scientists forecast and respond to hurricanes.
The storm’s wind speeds were estimated at more than 160 miles per hour. Andrew was only the third Category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the continental US since records were first kept.
Hurricane Andrew changed a lot when it came to the building of homes and codes that are now required. The storm exposed the faulty parts of construction and open eyes to a great deal that needed to be fixed.
