INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International Students UBD has opened its door to international students since its early beginning. Early on, ASEAN students make up most of the international students of UBD. The diversity expanded today with more coming in from East Asia (China and Japan), Europe, Africa and the Mid-East. A variety of Undergraduate, Graduate and Research programmes are offered at UBD, while shorter programmes are also available such as The Global Discovery Programme and Language Programmes. English is the main medium of instruction at UBD and widely spoken in Brunei Darussalam. The degrees offered therefore, provide opportunities for International Students to access to future employments globally. This environment also provides international students the avenue to learn English throughout their study and daily life, making it easier for them to make friends and socialize. UBD is so close to the city centre, and Brunei main attraction sites. UBD is adjacent to the Tungku Beach; that many of its buildings, in particular the student accommodation - The Core, and the University Technology Hub, overlook the beautiful South China Sea.

The television show known as Jersey Shore that aired on MTV for six seasons. The first time it aired was in December of 2009 and it was a huge hit. There were many controversies before they aired the show because it was an MTV reality show that reminded the viewers of The Real World. The show followed all eight housemates around day in to day out whether they were working during the day or partying at night. The fact that all random characters met up in a house to live for a summer together made viewers want to watch and see what will come about. Since the cast was followed around all of the time they would catch every minute of the exciting thing happening. They were able to cut out the dull, uninteresting parts so the viewers did not waste their time and cut to the chase. The critics were thinking negative thoughts before it aired and the controversy if the show Jersey Shore had a positive or negative impact on society. Jersey Shore was looked as a bad influence to younger views and nothing good was coming from it. Others look up to these characters as role models and follow in some of their footsteps.…

Foundation Learning (FL) was first introduced in 2008 and was rolled out nationally in 2010. Its intention has been to provide a flexible programme for 16 – 19 year olds who are mainly studying at Entry level or Level 1, to help them progress. Its three main elements were FS, personal and social development (PSD) and subject or vocational studies. At my place of work FL is made up of four key courses – Vocational Pathways; Progress; Extension Studies; and Preparation for Work and Life - which have been developed in response to the new agenda for FL. Today, FL places the learner at the heart of the learning process. According to LSIS (2012), current pedagogy in FE today:…

Before the conversion, BPSU used to have three campuses; two are located in the City of Balanga while the third is situated in Orani. The passage of RA 9403 resulted to the expansion of BPSU's campuses as the said Act duly integrated the Bataan State College in Dinalupihan and its satellite campus in Abucay (formerly Bataan National Agricultural School). The five campuses of the university have very humble beginnings and yet they all emerged with glorious histories to be proud of. On June 2008, the University made education more accessible by establishing an extension in the Municipality of Bagac that offers BS Entrepreneurship, BS Hotel and Restaurant Management, first two years of Nursing, and General Engineering courses.…
