Background of the Study A general lack of interest in English is the main barrier to learning the English language for the students. They tend to hesitate using the language because they are not so familiar to it. They should give enough motivation to get interested in English language and to conquer their fear of producing grammatically wrong sentences and the correct usage of words. As Wenden (1985) reminds us, there is an old proverb which states: “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and he eats for a lifetime”. Applied to the language teaching and learning field, this proverb might be interpreted to mean that if students are provided with answers, the immediate problem is solved. But if they are taught the strategies to work out the answers for themselves, they are empowered to manage their own learning. Teacher factor is important in increasing the interest of the students in the English language. They give motivation to the students for them to acquire English language easily Also, Dr.Sampang (2009) stated that it was important to use standardized material to make learning more interesting and to retain the interest of students in the language. Furthermore, once a teacher is successful in increasing the learner's interest in English, then everything else will follow. Also, exposure to the target language alone will help to acquire it.
