Internal Corporate Communication: How satisfied are you?

Abstract
Corporate Communication takes place at varied responsibility levels, both inside and outside an organization. The effectiveness of internal communication in any organization depends on various factors. This paper focuses mainly on three aspects of internal communication in Indian IT industry viz. Supervisor competency, communication with co-workers and communication of corporate information to lower management employees in the age group of 22-27 years and how it effects their satisfaction level. The survey instrument used was a questionnaire inspired by the communication satisfaction questionnaire (Downs & Hazen, 1997). The questionnaire was administered to 80 employees of different IT companies. 55 responses were used to carry out the analysis using statistical analysis tool in MS excel. Assuming the hypothesis that there exists a relationship between overall communication satisfaction level of the respondents and their supervisor’s communication competency irrespective of their preference to the latter, a Chi- square test was done and it was found that the hypothesis was proved. However, the strength of this correlation was not established. From the results we inferred that satisfaction level of the respondents was effected by the three factors stated initially. The data and results, however, do not consider any other influence on overall satisfaction level of the respondents.
