In Nigeria, 50 percent of population lived on less than one US dollar per day. Of this, 65 percent lived in rural areas. A direct result of this could be seen on the handset ownership among the rural poor (one percent). The absence of a reliable national electricity grid in these areas raised the issue of higher operating costs for the mobile service provider due to running and maintenance of diesel generators needed to power the mobile base station sites. In addition to which, the threats of thefts and vandalism of expensive equipment at these sites were also challenges facing Celtel, the second largest mobile telecommunication company in Nigeria in 2007. The company was unable to raise awareness about their shift using conventional marketing strategies such as billboards as they were stolen, recycled or reused.…

Q: List elements of the national business environment that influence the standardization-versus-adaptation decision. Standardized is just one of a number of strategies with which firms successfully enter the international marketplace today. Standardization may not always be the most appropriate strategy, even. Smaller companies may also be better off adapting to local cultures and exploiting their international image to gain market share locally. Consumers in different national markets often demand products that reflect their unique tastes and preferences. Cultural, political, legal, and economic environments have a great deal to do with the preferences of both consumers and industrial buyers worldwide. A culture’s aesthetics involves, among other things preferences for certain colors.…

In a free market economy, individuals/corporations are allowed to own property and other assets. Ownership provides incentive for people to work hard, be innovative and creative; all while hoping to attain additional wealth. Sequentially, the desire from individuals/corporations to accumulate wealth enhances the whole economy and generates economic growth. In contrast, in a state-directed economy, individuals/corporations are not allowed to own substantial quantities of property and other assets. The objective of a state-directed economy is for everyone to work for “the good of the society.” Although this seems like an honorable ideal, a system that asks individuals to work for “the good of the society” rather than allowing individuals to gain wealth does not provide a great incentive for people to work hard, be innovative and creative. This leads to state-directed economies typically generating less innovation and less efficiency than free market economies.…

Rene Descartes is normally viewed as the "father of present day logic" and was brought up in the French privileged and instructed at the Jesuit College of La Fléche. John Locke spent his initial life in the English farmland.…
