International Handball Federation
HANDBALL (also known as team handball, Olympic handball or European handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outfield players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball to throw it into the goal of the other team. The team with the most goals after two periods of 30 minutes[clarification needed] wins.
Modern handball is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball and Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball (also called sandball). American handball and Gaelic handball are completely different sports to team handball.
The game is quite fast and includes body contact as the defenders try to stop the attackers from approaching the goal. Contact is only allowed when the defensive player is completely in front of the offensive player, i.e. between the offensive player and the goal. This is referred to as a player sandwich. Any contact from the side or especially from behind is considered dangerous and is usually met with penalties. When a defender successfully stops an attacking player, the play is stopped and restarted by the attacking team from the spot of the infraction or on the nine meter line. Unlike in basketball where players are allowed to commit only 5 fouls in a game (6 in the NBA), handball players are allowed an unlimited number of "faults", which are considered good defence and disruptive to the attacking team 's rhythm.
Goals are scored quite frequently; usually both teams score at least 20 goals each, and it is not uncommon for both teams to score more than 30 goals. This was not true in the earliest history of the game, when the scores were more akin to that of ice hockey[clarification needed]. But, as offensive play has improved since the late 1980s, particularly the use of counterattacks (fast breaks) after a failed attack from the other team, goal scoring has increased.
Origins and development
There are records of handball-like games in medieval France, and

All football fields, professional, college, and high school, are the same size and have the same basic markings. The length of the pitch for international adult matches is in the range of 100-110 m and the width is in the range of 64-75 m. The longer boundary lines are touchlines, while the shorter boundaries (on which the goals are placed) are goal lines. A rectangular goal is positioned at the middle of each goal line. Nets are usually placed behind the goal, but are not required by the Laws. In front of each goal is an area known as the penalty area. This is a rectangular area, 40.2m wide and extending 16.5m into the field where the goalkeeper operates. A standard adult football match consists of two periods of 45 minutes each, known as halves. Each half runs continuously, meaning that the clock is not stopped when the ball is out of play. There is usually a 15-minute half-time break between halves. The end of the match is known as full-time. Anytime during the match, a team can substitute upto three players maximum. The game is controlled by a referee who is the official timekeeper for the match, and may make an allowance for time lost through substitutions, injured players requiring attention, or other stoppages. There are also two linesmen who keep guard of the touchlines or sidelines, signalling when the ball crosses the boundary lines. The referee alone signals the end of the match. Handling the ball deliberately, pushing or tripping an opponent, or hitting a player from behind are examples of fouls, punishable by a direct free kick or penalty kick depending on where the offence occurred. Other fouls are punishable by an indirect free kick. The referee may punish a player's or substitute's misconduct by a caution (yellow card) or sending-off (red card). A player is given a yellow card is said to have been 'booked'. Penalty Cards • Yellow - Warning card for dangerous play. A second yellow card at the same…

In 1921 the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court came into existence through the Louisiana Constitution. When the Juvenile Court was first established it started with one Judge but with an increase in juvenile crimes, the city chose to increase the number of judges in the courts. As of today there are a total of five judges that handle juvenile cases. Four of the judges primarily deal with adjudication. Adjudication is defined by the act of the court making an order or judgment. The fifth judge deals with family cases as it relates to child abuse and adoption and cases related to Department of Children Family Services (DCFS).…

Defining something as a "sport" is not always as easy as you might think. This is because there really aren't any official guidelines as to what makes a sport a sport. Personally, I believe that a true sport should consist of team effort toward a goal, physical fitness and activity, and some form of formal scoring system.…

For a throw in to occur the ball must go out of bounds on wither sideline on the pitch. To take a throw in both feet must stay on the ground and the person must throw the ball with both hands over their head. Another rule is if the ball goes out of bounds on either team’s goal line a corner kick is taken. A corner kick is taken by placing the ball on the corner, which the ball was closest to when it went out. A player can also tackle a person that has possession of the ball, but the player tackling must come in contact with the ball before hitting the player with the ball. Also if a foul occurs in the penalty box, which is a box that stretches from the goal eighteen yards long and forty-four yards wide there is a penalty kick, which means the ball is placed in a marked spot twelve yards away from the goal. Another rule is a player can be offside if they are behind the other teams last defender, (not including the goalie). Also the ball is placed for the team not receiving the foul where the player was called…

    The History Of Basketball

According to Dale Hanson’s book Basketball, the first of these original rules was that the player could throw the ball anywhere with one or both hands; the second rule was that one may hit the ball anywhere with one or both hands. The third rule was that players could not run with the ball, and the fourth rule was that the ball was to be held in between the hands. The fifth of these rules explained that there was to be no fouling, “shouldering, holding, pushing, tripping, or striking in any way” (66), and that a second foul could result in the player being banned until another goal was made. The sixth rule expressed that hitting the ball with a fist would result in a foul, and the seventh rule said that three repeated fouls from the same team would result in a point for the opposing team. The eighth rule determined that a point would be scored when a player shot or hit the ball into the goal from the ground. The ninth of these rules stated that after the ball was knocked out-of-bounds, the ball would be thrown in and only played by the player who caught the ball. Rules ten and eleven pertained to the umpire and referee. The umpire had the ability to disqualify players whereas the referee determined whether the ball was in-bounds, decided to which team the ball belonged, and also kept track of the playing time. The twelfth rule expressed how long…
