International Student Experience Essay
It is not easy to live and study in the USA for every international students. We need to deal with everything by ourselves. Today I want to talk about my daily life and the lives who study in ASU. I remember the first day I arrived in USA. I was nervous and excited. I knew that it was the new beginning of my life. But I just could feel sad after I left airport. Because I lost one of my baggage. I did not how to deal with it. At that time, my English was not very good. I could not explain what happened. Although a schoolmate helped me to find my case and explain what happened. But they did not find it. They just told me that I needed to go back to my apartment and wait. Fortunately, they sent my case to my apartment tomorrow noon. After that, a schoolmate helped me to get an American SIM card and an American bank card. Even that I could not order the meals when I

went to restaurant. Although I studied English in China for many years, I could not use it in my daily life. I think you can imagine how English difficult is when I studied. I did a research in campus, 90% Chinese students could not understand what others said when they first time arrived in the USA and also they realized that English was different between the USA and China. In my opinion, every Chinese student should focus on speaking and listening not just reading and writing.
Because we need to use the language in our daily lives not just write and read. We need to learn how native American use English when we study in China. If language is the first step, then the culture is the second step. Chinese do not like separating when they check out in restaurant. It is not accepted in Chinese culture. But it is a normal thing in the USA. You can not get a job in China if you have tattoo. So parents will not allow their children to get a tattoo. I confused on it all the time. I can not get tattoo though I like it very much. I did a research in campus, 70% Chinese students could not understand many different cultures when they first time arrived in the USA. Different cultures made Chinese students inconvenient in their daily life. In my opinion, Chinese students need to learn American cultures as possible as they can before they arrive in the USA. It will help us to adapt our lives in the USA as soon as possible. We cannot do anything except adapt them as soon as
possible. The third step is food. We have a word to explain how food important is in China. It said “ Food is the paramount necessity of the people.” But food became a problem in our daily life in the USA. We cannot adapt the American food and Mexican food. But we cannot find a good Chinese restaurant, either. The restaurants which located in the USA cannot cook the native Chinese food. I did a research in campus, 95% Chinese students do not like the food in the USA. In my opinion, doing it by yourself is the best choice. It is more delicious and healthier. The most important thing is that you can save money by DIY. We will meet so many problems all the time. But we should believe that we can solve them. “ International student” is not our excuse to escape from them. We should do better than in China.
