Student mobility has an important meaning of countries. It can not only enhance the education level of countries, but also have a huge economic effect. Therefore, this paper will discuss the trends in international student mobility with three different perspectives of the US, the UK and Canada.
Every country has its own orientations of international student policy. It can clearly be seen from Table 1. The US has the most serious limitation of international students and foreign workers. On the contrast, Canada is more welcoming for students to study there and work there.
According to Table 2, the data showed about that how international students select different countries for different degree levels. Canada has obvious advantage in Bachelor degree. There are about 60% students whom study in college of Canada. The ratio is about twice of the US and the UK. Meanwhile, the US has predominance at PhD degree. The ratio is more than twice of the UK and Canada.
Table 5 presents the proportion of the top ten countries students study in those three counties. It can clearly be seen that China and India are the main exporters of international students. In all of the proportion of foreign students, Chinese students are the highest proportion in the UK and Canada, and the second highest in the US.
While India has the highest percentage in the US, second in the UK, fourth in Canada.
Overall, students from China and India are most willing to study abroad. The paper may suggest that although the U.S has the most restriction of study and work, it is a good choice to study Doctorate in the U.S, and choose Canada for Bachelor degree.
