International students are definitely charged unequal and unfairly high tuition fees in most of all countries. Most of all people think it is fair to charge more to international students because local students should be given preference, some others believe that they must be charged more because its their land and their universities. I believe that it is not fair and equal to charge international students too high tuitions because if a student has the same academic level as a local one or if he accomplishes all the admission process, he must be treated as equal as the local.
When I applied to enter into my Master degree in France, I noticed that in must of the universities they have different tuitions for French and international students. In all of those universities where there was a different tuition, international students’ tuition was much more expensive than the locals’ tuition. I tried to ask some of those universities why does international students have to pay more than local students. Some of them responded that they charge less to local students because they have to do less administrative paperwork, others just answered that those are their tuitions and if you want to be in their university you have to pay their international student tuition.
As an international student I have to pay the international student tuition. I can’t do any change to that. But I consider it is not fair because I am paying a service that is the same between a local student and me. At the same time I believe that this type of policy makes education less equal, because the best universities are in those countries where they have these types of policies allowing only local students to have better education than students from others countries where their universities are not as good.
Must people around me complain about these types of policies, but must of all the education institutions do anything to arrange it. Maybe globalization and time can fix this problem but nowadays all international students have to live with this inequality.
