Internet can be a major threat to our genuine communication. Messages in the form of text can be hard to understand. We have experienced misunderstandings that happen from the uncertainty of emails or online chats. To make up for the lack of facial expressions and body language present in real life, emoticons are used to reduce the confusion. But, it is still hard for one to feel as heard online as when one connects with another in real life.
Communication is being more replaced by online communication. Shy individuals may rely on online communication as their savior to a better social life. But this can end up relying online communication too much that they become too comfortable with it to advance to offline conversations.
With millions of blogs and websites, we question ourselves, how much is the information they provide truly accurate or reliable. Given the convenience and low cost of publishing a blog or a website, there seems to be a lack of responsibility for what is being published. American writer Nicholas Car states that internet use reduces the deep thinking that leads to true creativity. An example of this statement would be that Journalists who love the accuracy of the stories they produced is now replaced by bloggers who may not have such experience. The result is that you get a number of different versions of the same story leading to opinions being misunderstood as facts by online readers.
