Internship Report
The purpose of this internship was mainly focused on gaining experience in a professional workplace, developing my knowledge in the areas of my concentration and also enhancing the skills needed in conducting a business.
The corporation chosen for my internship was Holiday Inn Hotel that is located in Salmiya. My main concentrations during this internship were in the Human Resources and Marketing departments. As hotel management is rising a business sector today, gaining an experience in how things work in running a hotel helped me gain vast experience and knowledge. My intellectual development was improved excessively through the projects that was given to me in the human resources and marketing departments, and the interaction I had with the employees throughout my training.
During my internship, the thought of pursuing a career in hotel business was convincing, especially after my supervisor encouraged me to apply after I graduate. It is not only a promising business sector, but also fun and demanding. By working at Holiday Inn, I foresaw myself as an excellent communicator, a punctuate and an inspirational leader, and a good marketer. Even though I never thought of working in hotel management, but have been interested in Human Resources, I think Holiday Inn gave me good insight in the sector I want to concentrate in the way they lead and communicate with the employees.
In this internship, I wasn’t only observing, but also ‘dealing’ and ‘doing’. There is only a small amount that we can learn through observing, however, in Holiday Inn, I was both exposed and experienced. They have explained me their goals and objectives beforehand and what they all work together to achieve one thing, to satisfy the employees. I did not only took part in planning and working at the office, but I was also required to join the activities along with the employees and the human resources manager.
