This part of the chapter I can relate most to is from the book I am reading in my class called, Eyes on the Prize. This book mostly demonstrates the racial injustice and oppression that black people face in the south. Each chapter shows a struggle faced and the ways in which you can see intersectionality between whites and blacks, as well as actions they took to end segregation. In chapter 1, God Bless the Child, on page 22, interviewer Kenneth Clark conducted an experiment on black children in Washington D.C. and New York City called the?Dolls Test? to determine how children perceive themselves and the affects of the social categories of society and the intersection between black and white students at school. Students were asked to pick the doll that was most like them and some students were upset if they were different from others, while students in the south had accepted that they were inferior to whites in schools.
