This shows that Mann had the knowledge and the power to tell Copper that plan a doesn't work but didn't tell him. Dr.Brand also led the astronauts to believe that plan a will work. “Did you know brand?” she shouted. “Did he tell you? Did you know that plan A was a sham? You knew, didn't you? You left us here to die. “Never coming back” (C22 P 174) This is when Dr.Brand told Murph that plan A does not work and so she calls her father Copper and blams brand for tricking them. Professor Brand used his power in a horrible way. He leads them to believe that they are going to save humanity and come back to their family but in reality, they aren't. Thirdly Murph tried to tell Cooper that going to outer space is a bad idea. “I figured out the message,’ she said. She opened her notebook. ‘It was morse code.’ ‘Murph….’ Cooper said, gently. She ignored him. ‘One word.’ she continued. ‘You know what it is?’ He shook his head. She held out her notebook so he could see it STAY.” (C: 12 P:89) Murph was using the knowledge she had about the bookshelf and morse code to crack this code. She begged for him to stay but he wouldn't. Copper had the power over Murph no matter what she can say he won't change his mind, no matter the knowledge she has. A literary …show more content…
A point that shows classes is when all the people on earth are left to die. “But he's been trying to solve the gravity equation for forty-years!’ Brand protested. Mann stepped closer and regarded her empathetically. “Amelia,” he said, “your father solved his equation before I even left.”(C24 P:181) This quote represents how the people left on earth don't matter, they didn't even bother to tell them, neither did they tell the astronauts that they cant come back. They didn't even get to give a proper goodbye. This shows classes because the upper class who are the more knowledgeable got to have an opportunity to live and those who are not important don't get to live. Another point that represents classes is when Professor brand promises to get everyone off the earth. “I’m asking you to trust me,” he said, “when you return, I'll have solved the problem of gravity.” (C24 P:183) This shows how Professor brand had power and created these classes. He said that when they get back he will solve the problem of gravity and then they can take earth's population. But in reality, no one is coming back because there is no way back home to earth after entering a wormhole. This also resembles Games At Twilight. This is represented when Raghu is the leader of all the siblings. Ravi is the youngest one and is in the lower class of the siblings. Raghu has power over all the siblings and uses this power to an extent. A poem that represents classes is The Passionate
