Intervention In Social Work

As the quote by Sydney J. Harris in the class lecture states, “Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better”, treatment and intervention is not an easy task. However, the social worker can apply valuable skills to help the process. With a proper engagement, a client can feel worthy of a social worker’s time and expertise, and feels more hopeful that change is possible and life can be better. It is important to note that there are multiple treatment approaches and that it may be necessary to change interventions if a client is not progressing. Treatment application should vary from client to client and should take contextual factors and the context of the problem into consideration. I feel as though the variance from client to client is either overtly addressed or covertly addressed in every class period.
