A&E Intervention: Christina’s Story
Introduction
In season 11: Episode 1, the world is introduced to a beautiful 21-year old woman named Christina from Riverside, California. From first glance, she is an animated young spirit, with a big heart who is enjoying the spoils of life. Her friends and family describe her as “someone that you gravitate towards...she’s beautiful, outgoing and smart. She loves to laugh and has a great personality.” Christina comments that she “wants to go out and have fun again, and get back to normal.” She also describes herself as someone who loves to have fun, however currently she is “stuck in the darkness.” Christina’s darkness is her Meth addiction that she is currently battling.
Family History
Christina was born to her parents Laura and Dan and an older brother named Shawn. When she came, she brought joy to their family and was associated with being a pleasantly “wild child” with a smile always on her face. However, it wasn’t long before their once pleasant home came to be a broken and soon destroyed. Christina’s mother Laura wanted to be the ideal mother to her children, she was a “perfectionist” of sorts according to Dan and Laura’s sister Kym. To handle with the stress of trying to be perfect, when Christina was 1 years old, Laura started snorting crystal meth. Laura stated that, “I began to using to help me stay up and work harder and longer.” In the testimony of her ex-husband Dan, “Laura would still be up late at night partying with her friends and drug connections” when he would be going to bed. And over the course of then next 3 years, when Christina was 4 years old, her parents divorced and her father moved out; only adding fuel to Laura’s drug addiction which progressively got worse. Both Christina and her brother Shawn recalled seeing their mother passed out for almost a week right before Christmas. That was one of the earliest
