In the beginning of chapter 12 of Huckleberry Finn, Huck describes and explains the changes that he and Jim made to the raft during the night. In this project, I was told to recreate the raft and build the modifications Jim added. As I constructed my model raft, I analyzed the changes they made. I realized that although the changes brought about by Jim did provide some comfort, the modifications that were made were not for luxury at all. They were made so that the two of them had shelter, heat, and protection. These changes were defiantly not extra. They were a necessity for their survival.…

As you grow up, you learn many lessons from the adults around you, soaking in every gesture, word, and action. As a child, you strive to be your parents, or better yet, your older sister. I am the youngest of four. I have two older brothers, and an older sister, all of them have influenced my life and given me the motivation to work harder to be the students, leaders, and good people that they are today. However, growing up in a big household can bring confusion to who you truly are. Over the years, you fight for attention (or with each other), and it is easy to lose who you are along the way. Within myself, I have found someone with leadership qualities, perseverance, personality, and good-citizenship.…

Siblings often serve as the first extended social interaction with other children (Venatsanou & Kambas, 2010). Children with siblings are found to have more opportunities for social interactions as well as more mature play partners, while only children may be less prepared to manage conflicts with their peers (Newman & Newman, 2015). Alfred Adler even took it one step further and theorized that birth order of siblings greatly influences how they see the world. The position one occupies in a family can impact how one interacts with others (Corey, 2013). Clearly, siblings can have a profound influence on the development of a…

Speaking of my family I have three sisters and one brother not counting in-laws. My oldest sister Makayla is married to John. John’s cool because he likes to play basketball too. Now Christa just got married to Cory he's my favorite, no offense to John, but, Cory likes guns and hunting and as a bonus, he has a snowmobile. My older brother, Colin, is going to college to be an engineer, although I very often question his methods of doing things, I think he will do well. Colin and I get along pretty well because we share a lot of the same interests. My little sister, Kianna, on the other hand, I can’t say the same for. We don’t exactly get along. She is so spoiled and always gets what she wants. Someone else in my life that I pretty much consider family is Stasia. She’s dating my brother, but she is honestly at my house more than I am. She’s not too bad she buys me food and I give her…

I grew up in a nuclear family. There are four people in my family, consists of my father, mother, my sister and me. My father is 62 years old. He’s working as a insurance agent. My mother is 10 years younger than my father. She used to work as a store manager before she gave birth to me. She quitted her job in order to take care of me and my sister because she believes that the mother daughter bond can grow stronger day by day by spending time with us. My sisters and I are four years apart. She is currently studying in Tsun Jin Independent School. Even though we fought a lot growing, got mad at each other, but she is still my one and only sister and that’s all that matters. I think is normal for siblings to fight despite the age difference as it can increase the bond between each other. I was brought up with a very typical view of what a ‘normal’ family is and does. Every night, my family eats dinner together. My parents always encourage us to go home early and have dinner together. Our family believes that it helps us stay connected and build better relationship. During dinner, we would talk over the happenings of the day, about upcoming events or plans and share interesting stories together.…
