Intesa Sanpaolo Office Case Study
The Intesa Sanpaolo Office Building is situated on the edge of a historic town centre and is close to the Porta Susa Station. The location is of strategic importance and the Intesa Sanpaolo is surrounded by public services and facilities. The building occupies a site with the adjoining Nicola Grosa garden that has been upgraded to a playful space with lawns and became neighbourhood friendly. The entrance hall of the Intesa Sanpaolo building has an access into the garden on the ground floor.
The building has been commissioned by the Intesa Sanpaolo Bank. One of Italy’s biggest banks. It has been completely financed by the bank itself and now serves as its headquarters. It is also the main office for the Executive Management team. The design

The design intention was one of the main factors of consideration during the design elaboration of the structure for the tower. The building consists of a circulation core made of reinforced concrete on the northward side of the floorplate. The rest of the structure consists of an external steel exoskeleton that allow for column-free floors, making the office floor layout as open and flexible as possible. The megastructure act as a skeleton for the various repeated elements/parts that are assembled and attached to the structure. (Ratcliffe,

To complete the property tour, we looked at the bedroom, comfortably proportioned for a queen sized bed and a floor-to-ceiling closet with a large window facing Paolina Park. The attractive bathroom was functional and came equipped with all the essentials. Lastly, we looked at the garage. Maria Laura informed us that Italians refer to a garage as a “car box”. The car box was large enough to accommodate a mid-sized car, a workbench, and storage for tools and seasonal items. I was overjoyed…

The most impressive part of the design is in its dome, where the complex corners and curves of the plan are pulled upwards like a tent. Standing at the center of the church and looking upwards, it’s beautiful shape is revealed, and the pronounced entablature makes the visitor want to flow around the space, following its shape. The dome is filled with natural light, which elevates the space into a spiritual…

It was a building of the ordinary classical type. It is rectangular with a gabled roof which is supported by a colonnade on all sides. There were eight columns in the first rank and two pairs of four behind. The building was rebuilt completely with a few alterations made in the early 3rd century. The building is circular and constructed of concrete which is faced with bricks and has a great concrete dome (or roof), rising from the walls. At the front there is a porch of Corinthian columns supporting a gabled roof with a triangular pediment.…

This noble idea, based on the familiar architectural concept of an elevated residential street with outstretching alleys and numerous pedestrian galleries, was to provide the city with a new comfortable neighbourhood. The new Scampia was to become a generator of community between its residents, the initiator of urban diversity, architectural innovation, and social cohesion. The people of Naples were shown an idealistic vision of a town of socialist architecture, a textbook example of the genuine concern expressed by an honest welfare state, of its dreams of equality and social inclusion. Di Salvo enthusiastically imagined the Scampia blocks as massive urban ships, large vessels with tall masts and sails, still referred to as The Sails of Scampia. In addition to providing a new residential block, the Scampia project was supposed to encourage the rapid development of public transport and the urban socialization of local inhabitants. The proximity of the train station, tram stations and buses were meant to ensure a reliable connection between Scampia and the old city centre, allowing for genuine integration of urban and pedestrian routes, and breathing fresh life into a previously neglected area. The plans included a new motel, a…

He was famous for his buildings with unique designs, and the Geisel Library is no exception. The Geisel Library has an unusual shape, and it sort of resembles a pyramid. The first two floors of the library compose the base, and the tower is composed between the fourth and eight floors. One unique part of the library is the “lack” of a third floor. The third floor is just reinforced concrete and is used as an emergency exit for the people on the higher floors. All of the floors in the tower are completely surrounded by large glass windows, making the building look like a spectacle. The most unique feature about the building is its shape. Unlike most buildings, the widest point of the Geisel Library is the sixth floor, two floors from the top. The sixth floor spans over 210 square feet. The tower floors above and below the sixth floor progressively shrink to the size of the base. Sixteen giant concrete beams extend upwards from the building’s base to support floors four, five, and six. The concrete beams also look dramatic, adding to the spectacular feeling of the…

In this paper I will take a look at the Saint Mark Cathedral of Venice and examine its architectural components. The main problem examined in my paper is significance of the decorative details the church and its surroundings express. More commonly known as Saint Marks Basilica, it can be said that it is one of the most famous city churches in Europe and one of the most known examples of Byzantine architecture. The church’s lavish interior structural design, golden color mosaics, has earned the nickname Chiesa d’Oro (Church of gold). In this term paper I will also intend to interpret how the decorative details the church and its surroundings intent to express the power and Venice’s strong sense of citizenship and religious bonds.…

The International School in Ikast-Brande (ISIB) is so popular that there was a need for new, larger premises. C.F. Møller Architects designed a new 2,600 sqm building with two floors of light brickwork. This includes a school, after-school and kindergarten in the extension of an existing training complex. The complex is designed like a small town with individual volumes located around a square and winding streets. The roof is covered by a flat roof with roofing felt and each building masses are separated by glass-aluminum sections in a darker tone. Throughout the building are omnipresent views to the green landscape and a pleasant natural light influx, creating a bright and friendly environment for the children and staff. Wood-aluminum windows are arranged in an interesting vibrant pattern that gives ample amount of natural light into the building. The International School with the new building can accommodate up to 200 students.…

The University of the Philippines College of Architecture has a significant environment of learning as the atmosphere of the site is quite pleasant, orderly and green enough as I went to see its recent status from the outside of the building. The building’s site has a good landscape with flowers and a few tiled and cemented flooring going to the building. But its building has a lot of things to be improved as I get an ocular visit and take up photos on some of the parts of the structure starting from its façade up to its rooms. The UP AR College building is a one storey square plan building and has a typical ordinary house like building as seen on its façade with an irregular form of an upward extruded oval and rectangular shape on the plan with the oval painted in yellow and the rectangular filled with clay bricks and the main entrance has this broken and rusted fiberglass with steel support cantilevered roof with installed three pin lights. The building’s enclosed windows have this thin and wavy light glazers colored with pale blue, green and flesh. The building’s roof is made up of corrugated galvanized iron sheet painted in white. There is a black steel gate and a direct security post right on the entrance of the building to secure and monitor the people that come in and out of the building. Flooring of the building’s corridor is tiled by maroon ceramic. Walls on the corridor are painted in white and they have provided a designated area where they can post according to content and with color code for the exhibition of the board works of the student, AR department’s note and…
