Have you ever wondered what it would be like to take on an adventure like McCandless or McCunn? These two men had a mind set to explore nature and its beauty and to survive. However these two men had many similarity as well as difference. Throughout the book “Into the Wild” this was displayed.
I will begin with comparing the two men. First these two men each had a very friendly character. McCandless show kindness to everyone he encountered. Franz described McCandless (Alex) as a polite, friendly, and well-groomed. He touch Franz in an exceptional way because he reminded him of his son. McCunn was the same character friendly. One of his friends states that “Carl was a friendly, extremely popular, down-home sort of guy.” Another similarity is that the many individuals thought their ideas were a little far-fetched. The same friend that stated he was friendly also considered him a little dream and out of touch with reality. When people found out of Chris McCandless adventures and the end results, it is written that some believe that Chris was a man that was not mental stable. When to people are alike they also can be different. Alaska they were both were destined for, and they both there remain were frozen hard as stone.
I would like to discuss the difference I see between the two men. I believe that McCandless was a more prepared man then McCunn. Chris believe that he would make it out of Alaska that he could live in and with nature because he wrote to his many friends that he would like to see them soon. However Carl as it written he neglected to arrange for the pilot to fly him back to civilization at the summer’s end. Another difference I see between him and McCandless is that he took his own life. McCunn placed the muzzle of the .30-0.30 against his head and jerked his thumb down on the trigger. We see that Chris had struggled to survive. I would say that McCandless had a more determined spirit to survive.
Overall I believe that it is very
