Effeciency and effectiveness of an industrial organization is dependent on the design of the facilities offered in such an organization. Facilities d i i l d F iliti design includes, among other things, th thi selection of facilities location, facilities layout design, storage and handling of material, etc This course presents several approaches to analyse selection of facilities location, to design facilities layout, and to design material handling system.

LEARNING OUTCOME Able to do qualitative and quantitative analysis in selecting a facilities location Able to collect and use data from an industrial organization for the purpose of designing and/or improving facilities design Able to explain and use computerized layout design methodology Able to differentiate between various categories of material handling systems and equipment Able to explain how to manage a warehouse or storage area in term of layout design, warehouse operations methods, and movement of materials Able to plan and design facilities of industrial supportive activities 3 Able to exercise relevant generic skills
