Psychology has many different branches that concentrate on different areas; one of the branches that focus on how cultural influences human behavior is cross – cultural psychology. Cross – Cultural psychology helps an individual understand the behavior, emotions, and the ability of connecting with different people from different cultures. It is not only an effective branch in psychology but also it helps to understand the different points of view of other individuals coming with different ethnicity and cultures. In the case study “Group Level and Intraindividual Stability of National Stereotypes” it helps to provide details on how an individual stereotypes a person and how that has some refection on cross-cultural psychology. In order this branch of psychology one must understand the meaning and the relationship between Cultural and Cross-Cultural Psychology, as well as the methodology associated with cross-cultural. Not only is it important to understand the relationship but important to understand how the case study helps to better understand ethnicity, race as well on how enculturation may play a role in the case. An overview on the case study “Group – Level and Intraindividual Stability of National Stereotypes: A Four Year Longitudianl Study on Ingrian Finn Immigrants’ Pre and Post migration Stereotypes of a Typical Finn” Written by Jan- Erik Lindquist, Inga Jasinskaja-Lahti and Markku Verkasalo concentrates on the stereotype of people. The authors suggest that the characteristics of an individual are what makes a stereotype. But when concentrating on the Finns’s case that comments or judgments can influence stereotypes. One strong point from this article is how people perceive different ethnicity and start to see the different characteristics of people from different cultures and countries.
