Phase 1 – Discussion Board 2
19 February 2013 * Describe the operating system that you use the most each day.
I have mostly relied on my Mac running OS X now for about a decade. I really enjoy my MacBook for a lot of reasons yet I switch to from Windows only to be different from others or should I say from the majority of people out there using Windows so I chose to start playing around with a Mac maybe cause everyone uses Windows plus thought it would be nice to change and a challenge. Not that I’m saying Mac’s are hard but a very much different environment from all Windows like Win98, W2000, WinNT, Win2003, WinXP, for a while there Vista and now for the most commonly used Win7 not to forget Win8 which will get it’s turn as the days go on. Otherwise, most work places have Windows so no matter where you go there will always be Windows to handle most operations. * Explain why you are using this operating system.
As we all know how much Windows get credited with its usage but it’s really good to know and playing with Windows is more fun than on a Mac. I think it’s a bit challenging working on a Mac even though I have had it for about 10 years I’m still learning. I like to put Windows 7 on it but just haven’t found anyone to guide me.
I play around with Mac since I have felt confortable learning some short cuts also haven’t had no problem yet even when I’m surfing the net seems like its more secured and not always popping up with pop-up screens such as advertisements and such. Unlike, when using Windows it seems as though it always finds its way to block up background adding up the cache faster where then it takes up many garbage. * Consider alternative operating systems. If you had a choice, what operating system would you prefer to use for your day-to-day tasks? Would you use the system that you are currently using or a

In my personal opinion, I am Windows fan and like Microsoft’s operating system better than Apple’s, but I won’t deny that Yosemite is one really stable and great operating system. Even though of my preference of Windows, both systems have their good and bad features. Windows is a GUI operating system as is MAC OS. MAC OS can only be on an apple computer and it costs £1000 approximately including the computer whereas windows costs around £617 including the computer for the pro edition. Windows also has more software made for it. Windows also has more security options than MAC as on windows you can restrict what certain users can do with some files. MAC has more settings than windows making it easier to customise but removing software is not as simple as it is on windows…

There are several differences between Linux, Windows and Mac. One of the first is that Linux is not like the other two. Linux is not a full operating system like Mac or Windows. Linux is a command line interface compared to the others that are Graphic User Interfaces. Windows uses windows explorer as its default internet browser where as Mac uses Safari. Windows computers are more susceptible to viruses compared to Mac, which is also less prone to crashes. Windows is used by several computer companies like Dell, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba. Whereas Apple is the only user of Mac OS.…

I think it would be easy to handle we are developing more and more technology. As we develop the more we learn. I think the interface would be advance but simple at the same time. I am familiar with Windows and Mac operating systems and I have to say I think Mac operating system is perfect. Because it is more reilable and better advance than Windows. Don't have a lot of problems and if they do it can be easliy…

Three different operating systems are Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. I would recommend Microsoft Windows because that’s the one I am most familiar with even though I hear a lot of good things about Mac OS X. It’s a very user friendly operating system. I am very experienced with Microsoft with having over 18 years of knowledge. They are constantly upgrading and making improvements each time they change the operating system. I also enjoy the…

Ever been in a computer store and a guy in a nice dress coat with Khaki pants and leather Gucci shoes on, walk and just chuckles at you because you are looking at a Windows PC? Well, chances are that it was either a Mac user. "Mac user interviewed and self-admitted as filling cool, artsy, higher in the social society, and often harassed PC owners trying to get them to switch”. (Firmin 2) If one wants to get more value for their money then they will want to look at nothing else but PC. If one was to take the money that a Mac owner spent and upgrade a PC with the same amount, they would have a much better system than the Mac owner. Macs hardware is well built and appealing but is expensive. Most of their laptops have SATA hard drives which are fast but are short on memory and don't come with DVD players or HDMI ports and the batteries are not removable. PCs on the other hand plenty of design, specification, and price options. Hardware for PC runs from topnotch to trash, with the prices matching the quality.…

Some devices are very expensive and are used for a variety of things from business, simple word processing or gaming. Some device users become strong proponents of one platform or another, for example those who prefer apple commuters will not use a PC and vice versa, citing ability to install viruses and availability of software as their reasons for choosing. I think it is mostly what you learn on that may determine which platform one chooses. All machines imply a savviness of the modern technical world. (Watson, 2012)…
