Dear Parents,

Congratulations! We are very pleased that your child has been successful in gaining a place at Beal High School and will be joining us in September 2012. It has been a long process but this is where the real work starts. We hope to support you as much as we can through the next year and this evening will be the beginning of that process.

This booklet has been designed to answer your frequently asked questions and will provide you with the practical information that we feel you will need to get started and through the first two weeks at Beal High School. We will then hold a ‘Year 7 Information Evening’ on Tuesday 18th September 2012 where you will meet Year 7 form tutors and when the curriculum will be explained and discussed. In the meantime, if we have forgotten anything please use the contact details overleaf to talk to the person who can help.

We do hope that you find the booklet and this evening useful and we look forward to welcoming your child here in September.

Yours sincerely

This scheme of work suggests possible teaching and learning activities for each section of the specification. There are far more activities suggested than it would be possible to teach. It is intended that teachers should select activities appropriate to their candidates and the curriculum time available. The first two columns summarise the specification references, whilst the Learning Outcomes indicate what most candidates should be able to achieve after the work is completed. The Resources column indicates resources commonly available to schools, and other references that may be helpful. Higher Tier material is indicated by a bold HT only comment. The timings are only suggested*, as are the Possible Teaching and Learning activities,…

This Answers book provides suggestions for some of the possible answers that might be given for the questions asked in the workbook. They are not exhaustive and other answers may be acceptable, but they are intended as a guide to give teachers and students feedback. The student responses for the longer essay-style questions are intended to give some idea about how the exam questions might be answered. The examiner comments (underlined text) have been added to give you some sense of what is rewarded in the exam and which areas can be developed. Again, these are not the only ways to answer such questions but they can be treated as one way of approaching questions of these types.…
