New inventions change our live on a daily basis. Whether it is the new version of a washing- machine or a new cure for a disease that they have discovered, we are sure to never have a dull moment in the modern world. Over the years we have experienced many new inventions and many interesting periods of discoveries, but not one quite as dynamic as the 20th century. I think the reason these specific times’ inventions were so important, is that it was the beginning of everything. All the basic ideas that we form magnificent technology of today, comes from those first inventions. These inventions left their mark in many different areas, including in transportation, entertainment, home life, and the work place.

In 1920, the Band-Aid was invented by Earle Dickson. Although this invention seemed small compared to others, we do not realize how much of a difference it really makes. Every day we use Band-Aids; when you scrape your knee, when a bee stings you, or when you accidently cut yourself with a knife in the kitchen. The story of how this was invented is quite magnificent. Earle Dickson’s wife, Josephine, frequently cut and burned herself while at home. Every time she had to cut off a bit of bandage and stick it while she was hurt. Her husband got the wonderful idea of making the plasters long before she could get hurt, making it easier for her to just put it on when she needs it. Another life- changing invention is penicillin. Although there are many people that are allergic to it, many people really need it. It is very helpful and it made a big difference in the medical world. It was invented in 1928 by Alexander Fleming. After many years of research, this medicine could successfully treat infections caused by bacteria. …show more content…
These are many simple inventions that we might not even realize how much it affects us. In 1904, teabags were invented by Thomas Sullivan. How would you like it if we still had to use separate tea leaves every time you want to make tea? It would be really difficult; it is very convenient to have teabags. In 1919 the pop-up toaster was invented by Charles Strite. Now we can easily and quickly make toast without having to do so much work or hurt ourselves. Frozen food was invented in 1923 by Clarence Birdseye. Although many people do not eat frozen food because they believe it is unhealthy, there are also many people who see it as a huge convenience. Most people are only able to take a meal and put it in the microwave oven in the evenings when they get home; this is where frozen food is perfect. This is another one of the many brilliant ideas of the 20th century. In 1938, Ladislo Biro took initiative and created the ball-point pen, an appliance we use several times a day. This invention meant we didn’t have to dip our quills in ink anymore, because the ink was already in the pen. Better yet, before Biro created this specific ball-point pen, there were many others that tried, but the ink spread unevenly and clogged on the page. Today we can just pick up our pen and write whenever and wherever we want to. The last invention that helps us a great deal in our daily- lives, is the spray can. This was
