Part Two: The part of chapter one that I decided to explain was the “Do Your Work” section. I think that the key to a successful graduation from college is not only attending classes, but it is also important to pay attention, take good notes, dedicating time to study and actually doing the homework that the professor had assigned. This chapter grabbed my attention because I can relate to students who have to hold a part-time job and go to school full time to achieve their success. While I was in high school I worked 30 hours a week and went to classes full time. I would always find the motivation to accomplish my school work a difficult thing to find. I found that accomplishing your work was very motivating when people would doubt that you could not succeed. I agree with doing your work is very important to your success. I also had a real connection with the section about taking control. In my previous days in high school I always put everything of until the absolute last minute; I always found something better that I would do instead. I would always find myself very stressed out because I was pushed to rush through my assignments and not able to do my best abilities on the assignments. Although I was just making it by with my poor quality essays, it was also affecting my grades on my quizzes and tests. This is when I realized that working so many hours was not an ideal thing to be doing. This is why it is very important to set up a schedule and to get into a routine so you don’t have the chance of getting far behind. Now that I am in college and I see how much this is costing me if I procrastinate and don’t do well in my classes and I am seeing the importance of getting into a routine and sticking with a schedule.

What other people don’t tell them is that college is to help build people that can better the community and the world. McCreery writes about how college’s true purpose is to build people that have the education that allows them to survive in the world and be able to think things you that others didn’t not just to make you a big paycheck. The way College does this is by providing students with classes that can help them grow as a human and be the best they can be. A great example of this is when I took a liberal arts class this class helped me learn how I learn and how other people learn so wat I learned is that i learn the best when I write things down but it also thought me that people learn differently some people learn better by seeing things or hearing what they need to learn and other learns by touching and feeling things to remember it and learn…

My motivation to succeed in life and college starts with my ambition to want more than just a job that pays well, but a career that I love doing. I was in the navy for four years active and I loved it, but I didn’t feel fulfilled in life. Something was missing. So I made the decision to become a reservist and finish my degree and pursue my dream of becoming a Register Nurse. That dream is put on hold for now only because the school that I attended told me that even if I had all the necessary points needed, I still might not be accepted into the nursing program. I had a tough decision to make. Do I stay in this school and keep wasting time or do I go to another school and pursue something else in the medical field? That is when I decided to come to California College San Diego and pursue a degree in Medical Specialties. When I am done with this program, I would have two careers that I would enjoy doing. I would be certified in multiple areas such as: medical assistant, home health aide, pharmacy technician, nursing assistant, and medical billing and coding. Although I want to be a Register Nurse, I will use this as a stepping stool to reach my goal and dream.…

One has to approach school as an added duty in one’s life. I must add an extra responsibility to my daily chores and activities. I am venturing into an activity I have not done any schooling for over 30 plus years now. School is something I must learn all over again. This changes our everyday routines to a point that we all must learn to work well with this new education. I am glad that in the past I had learned great tools to work with while working on these new responsibilities. Making it great while I was getting my A.S. degree in Florida Tech College out of Orlando, FL. Back then everything was paper and pencil or pen. Now I see an all new era of schooling and especially online. I force myself to get things done early, just like I do when I need to be somewhere for an appointment. I arrive much earlier than requested so I have time to sit and plan what will be going on at this appointment. I turn that into the same here with my online class. I don't like to be late for anything even dinner at home. Work on my college activities and required assignments take on the same aspect that I apply to my personal life. Both must be taken on with kid gloves. But as long as I keep in mind the goals created for school and stick to them I should have no trouble working out any obstacles that come my…

Hi, I’m Suzzana, I think you know that by now. I’m currently attending Camden County College. I am transferring because as you might know, most community colleges are two year schools. Community College has been great for me. I was never achievement orientated when I was in grade school. I was enrolled in an alternative school since the 8th grade. I was behind in my academics, but I would like to say I compensate in life experience. When I was younger around the age of 9 I was bullied a lot. I was chubby and I increasingly gained weight at that time. My influx of weight was the baggage of my emotions and my families struggles. My parents divorced when I was 10, my mom was escorted out by police. I only had my dad for a year. Then, I had missed…
