David Alfaro Siqueiros was a very famous and influential Mexican artist whose work reflected his political ideologies. David was born on December 29, 1896 in Chihuahua, Mexico to parents Cipriano Alfaro and Teresa Siquieros. Siqueiros was the second of three children, and was raised by his grandparents after his mother had died when he was only four years old. His grandfather, Antonio, who had a military background, had a major impact on his childhood. In 1908 David attended Franco-English College and later, San Carlos Academy, to study art and architecture. During his time there, the Mexican Revolution began and Siqueiros became involved in student strikes, which successfully changed the school’s teaching methods. La Poncia reveals her contempt for Bernarda by telling another servant: “I’ll lock myself up in a room with her and spit in her face-a while year” (235). La ponicia has been mistreated by Bernarda which continues to remind her of her “place” within the house. For instance in the opening of Act 1, La Ponicia introduces Bernarda to the audience by saying “If Bernarda doesn’t find things shining, she’ll pull out the few hairs I have left”. She also announces “She’s perfectly capable of sitting on your heart and watching you die for a whole year without turning off the cold little smile she wears on her wicked face. “ After thinking these terrible things, how could one not want to take revenge out on someone? Also in Act 1, La Poncia…

El Dorado was the name of a tribal chief of the Musica tribe. As an initiation rite, he covered himself in gold dust and dove into the Guatavita Lake. As the story got recounted and told from place to place, details got mixed up. This proved to be a huge problem when El Dorado, the tribal chief of the Musica tribe, became the legendary lost "City of Gold." Since it was called the city of gold, it was something so spectacular that everyone wanted a part of it, mainly for power. Because everyone imagined this "City of Gold" to be so fantastic, it later became a kingdom, an empire, and eventually the city of a legendary golden king.…

    1. Putnam’s claim: As stated in paragraph 5, in today’s society, it’s not always necessary to stay married for the sake of the child. I agree with this statement in a sense, meaning that every situation is different. For example: two people may need to separate for the safety of the child or other spouse. People sometimes discuss divorce in an almost pious reverence because I believe that most people view marriage as a symbol of wholeness, or sacredness, and when you talk about divorce, we tend to picture half a person.…
