Abstract Most of us spend about 90%of our time indoors, so minimizing the use of harmful chemicals in our homes, offices and schools is important to keep the air we breathe healthy and constructed surfaces we live on free of irritants and toxins. Besides being expensive, store-brought cleaners contain a number of chemicals. These chemicals can be hazardous to our health and are not necessary to have a clean home. Making our own household cleaners saves money and ensures the ingredients are natural.

This study entitled “EFFICACY OF USED PLASTICS, CANDLES IN MAKING POLISHING AGENT” aims to produce an environmental friendly polishing agent we can use in our home. We can easily make our own natural and inexpensive polishing agent that works as well as commercial version. Making our own household cleaners saves money and ensures the ingredients are available.

There are only three main ingredients used in this study; a used candle, used plastics and kerosene.

The study shows that making our homemade polishing agent will benefit us a lot aside from saving money, but it is also good for our health since it does not contain any harmful chemicals.

DATA

A. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Commercial polishing agent is full of many chemicals which we may not feel bringing into our home. Among the worst chemicals used can cause liver and kidney damage if inhaled over extended periods. Some can cause asthma and cancer.

All of us know that we’ve been experiencing a problem on waste disposal. Garbage is everywhere. Used plastics were scattered everywhere. To answer these problems we are implementing R.A. 9003 known as Ecological Solid Waste Management. Plastics can be re-using or recycled.

To give answers to these problems, researchers find some ways on how to

Glow sticks contribute to pollution in a similar way to all plastic products. The plastic case can not be disposed by incineration as they may release corrosive fumes such as hydrogen chloride from common plastic constituents such as chloroethene. The luminescent phenyl oxalate esters also produces toxic phenol fumes if burned[24]. The plastic case can be ingested by animals, particularly by marine animals and sea birds; potentially inducing fatal poisoning. Glow stick cases was one type of plastic found in dead short-tailed shearwater’s…

This definitely can poise a threat and safety risks to the workers. As a risk assessor, it is essential to decrease exposure and limit the spread of rhodite 906. Hazardous chemicals such as rhodite can cause harm when they enter the body in sufficient amounts via inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption. The nature of the chemical hazard and the routes by which it enters determine the controls needed. Unfortunately, I did not observe such controls in the workplace. There were no material safety data sheets visible or chemical hazard warnings. The employer simply wore a lab coat while visitors were only asked to wear closed toed shoes. There were no guidelines, PEL, or TLVs given by OSHA. However, the material safety date(which should be posted) explains that it can cause irritation of the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Moreover, compounds that it has such as cerium have low toxicity. People can come into contact most easily by inhalation. In order to quantify the amount of air exposure, I would employ biological monitoring for the employers who monitor the polishing. The levels of chemicals in the body can sometimes be measured in the blood, urine, or exhaled air. The results would provide…

Painting nails has become a very normal part of society today. But it might surprise you that the act of manicures and pedicures started around 3200 B.C.! In Babylonia, men used to wear nail polish made of kohl to show what class they were in. If a man was of a higher class he wore black nail polish but if he was low class he wore green. Nail polish started there and expanded tremendously. Over the years painting nails became more and more popular than it originally was in 3200 B.C. Although unlike the men in Babylonia, we paint our nails as more of a pastime and less as a signal of class. Today, nail polish now comes in an insane amount of colors and textures to choose from. There are even fake nails already painted and designed that you can put over your real nails. All in all, painting nails is enjoyable and creative, but sometimes it is really a challenge to remove the nail polish from your nails. It is also very time-consuming. So we wondered how we can shorten this time and make removing nail polish easier.…

Coconut Shells as a Shoe Polish Science Investigatory Project Let us begin our adventure with our Abstract... The study focused in making a specialized shoe polish from burned dried coconut husk. It aimed to prove the affectivity of the product in terms of some parametric measurements based on the preferences made by respondents. The parameters were adapted from written reviews for top commercial products. Also, this was made to test if there are really no significant difference between the output of the study and the existing product in the market. After gathering data through rating scales issued to the respondents of the study, it showed an average of 4,.18. This mean rating was compared to a standard mean obtained by averaging the ratings of predominant commercial products. With the data obtained, the study implied that there is no significant differencebetween the effectivity of the shoe polish from burned dried coconut husk and the effectivity of the commercial shoe polish.
