The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation was established in 1987, under the joint initiative of the European Commission (DG Enterprise) and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI, former MITI). The Centre’s core mission is to promote all forms of industrial, trade and investment cooperation between the EU and Japan and to help improve EU and Japanese companies’ competitiveness and cooperation by facilitating exchanges of experience and know-how between EU and Japanese businesses. In the provision of information services, the Centre maintains an Information Centre (“EU I” Centre) on EU specific policies, statistics, laws and regulations. The Centre also acts as a clearing house for Japanese information on science, technology and commerce, aimed at European companies entering or expanding
