Invisible Children's Club Impact On Society
Invisible children’s club is an in-school organization focused on devoting its services to provide relief and build homes for disadvantaged children and people of Eastern Africa. This club is focused on bringing together students in order to make a positive impact on the world. I love this club very much because it is so committed to helping people. During the school year every year we think of new ways to raise money for our cause. Just recently this year we had a pet wash at our local pet store and asked people to come by with any donation, big or small. The event took place on a cold and drizzly Saturday morning. Everyone was hungry, tired, and freezing but that never stopped us from staying and washing the animals that came by. My best

Being active in National Charity League for six years, I have had the pleasure of working with many different philanthropies, my favorite being The Tualatin School House Pantry. Operating out of the basement of a church, the food bank helps to feed families in the community who are struggling financially. While my first few experiences at the food pantry were emotionally challenging, I found them to be very eye opening. I met many people from different backgrounds, yet they all shared the same hardship, the inability to afford food for themselves and their families. Wanting to do more for the recipients, I received training to be one of the personal shoppers.…

My children and I volunteered to help set up the facility for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. The day before Thanksgiving we drove to downtown Atlanta to the Georgia World Congress and Convention Center. We were amazed by the number of volunteers already there. There were people from all walks of life, executives, athletes, clergy, housewives and fathers, and even some people who were clearly in need themselves.…

When food-bank drives are conducted, people generously donate items such as canned beans and boxed cereal but don’t often don’t think about baby supplies, leaving the banks often unable to help families with food, diapers, and other things for their babies. To meet this need, the UCBCC conducts a drive the second Saturday of each May and September to gather baby supplies. Typically, these drives are held in large supermarkets that have given permission to UCBCC to set up a table near the front of the store and as customers come in, invite them to purchase a baby item or two while they are shopping to donate to the food bank or to contribute money. As the customers leave, they drop off the purchased items at the donation table.…

Near the holiday, we set up a Halloween party for the homeless at Morning Star and the neighborhood children. In this event, food was passed out to those people sitting there cold and alone. Some people even donated clothing to them, so by the end of the night, they were filled with warmth which came apparent from the smiles they flashed. I have learned to uphold a greater respect for others than I did four years ago. Some people may hold less respect for these people by the little that they are able to offer, but I gained even more because they’re there accepting help when in their position and some wouldn’t even show their faces. It wasn’t much that we were able to change, but our small deed made them happy even if it was just for a night which they expressed their bountiful…

Throughout the past few years I have taken part in many projects and activities to foster education and global engagement. The most recent is my upcoming outreach trip to the Agnes Zabali Boys and Girls Club. This trip was planned by myself, 3 other education students and our faculty supervisor. The purpose of this trip is to provide support for the Agnes Zabali Boys and Girls Club (AZBGC). As Education students, we are taking this opportunity to provide daily lessons for the children who visit the Boys and Girls Club. We started the planning in September and we have put in over 120 hours since then in order to make this trip as beneficial for the children at the AZBGC. Apart of this planning, we have raised funds to help support the children's’ education costs. While planning for this outreach trip, I decided to partner with a local grade seven class to teach them about social justice. Their classroom teacher told me that with the recent media attention in the USA she is having difficulty teaching her students about justice and discrimination. We decided to partner together to teach both the Ugandan Children as well as the Canadian grade seven class about what it is like to live in a different part of the world. This partnership will entail writing letters to each other as well as creating a video about life in each of their respective locations.…

I chose to perform an anonymous act of kindness in the drive thru at Starbucks Friday morning on the way to work in completion of this assignment when I paid for the customer’s order behind me. I thought about it for a little while wondering if they too would pay it forward. So last night I was looking at my Facebook page, and my Aunt Theresa posted “So I went to Starbucks this morning (long line!!) When I got to the window cashier said the car in front of me paid for my drink! I thought whoo hoo! and then I asked why.. she said the car in front of them paid for theirs and the car in front of them paid for theirs... so.. I paid for the car behind me.. Paying it Forward today...”…

For my Personal Project I wanted to do something with the community that had something dealing with giving. I want collect 500 shirts and pants to donate to the Salvation Army. For me to be able to complete this job I would have to make sure that I stay in contact with the Salvation Army. If you don’t stay in contact they will forget about everything. I’m also going to ask the Wal-Mart on Powder Springs rd. to see if I can use their property so that I can have an event so that I would be in a place where everyone comes so that people know where the place is.…

In my Senior Year of being in the National Honor Society, I was excited to volunteer and to help those in need. I helped out with a soup kitchen in Brainerd through another organization that I am in, the Student Council. As I scooped soup into bowls and placed them onto people’s trays, I could see a look of appreciation and gratitude on their faces. This was the first time in my National Honor Society career where I understood just how much my time and effort meant to these individuals. This volunteer opportunity made me realize that a simple meal, smile, and effort to do something helpful and nice can really make someone’s day brighter or easier.…

Throughout high school, I have been a member of my school's branch of KEY Club. KEY Club has been an excellent club to be a part of, as it has allowed me to take part in various activities in my local community. As a member, I have been a part of promoting all our fundraisers, such as food and shoe drives, and have been a viable member known for my high standards of excellence and dedication. From my membership in this organization, I was inspired to initiate my own service project in order to play a bigger role in the success of KEY Club. In June of 2016, several students and I started collaborating to initiate our own returnable can and bottle drive. Since then, we have went to several community events and neighborhoods, as well as the local…

I am honored to be considered among the superior academic students at MCC and to be applying to the National Honor Society. If I am accepted into the National Honor Society, a service obligation that I would like to propose is collecting items for the babies and mothers in the Genesis House here in Melbourne. The Genesis House is a donation run organization that not only helps pregnant mothers, but also mothers who have newborns or young toddlers. I feel that this project would make an impact on many people’s lives. Most people in our world today believe that people in the Genesis House of Melbourne are fine because they have the volunteers there to support and care for them which sadly, isn’t always the case.…

Growing up, I have always known that I wanted to do more for the world. I wanted to help people that were hurt, disabled, or disadvantaged. I’ve always thought the world could be better if we stood up for one another and make each other’s days. My parents taught me while growing up that giving back is always more important than all the material things I could receive. I became a member of a girl scouts pack near my house and we always assembled fundraisers and donated what we made to local charities. When I decided I didn’t want to undertake the responsibilities of a girl scout, my dad introduced me to Special Olympics.…
