Iranon was convinced to find his lost home where he was no longer ridiculed for his singing, and was able to be accepted by the community members encompassing around him.
Specifically, in the text it states, Iranon much hoped to “go to Oonai, … where man shall know [his] longings and welcome [him] as brothers, nor ever laugh or frown at what [he] says”. (Lovecraft, 47) Moreover, this lack of happiness in Iranon’s state of life, is reinforced where he expresses, “the soldiers at Jaren laughed at me and drove me out, so that I wandered to many other cities”, attesting to my understanding that Iranon was curious towards the world, as he wanted to recreate a time where he was free from stigmatization. (Lovecraft, 47). He wanted to sense and “remember the twilight, the moon, and soft songs, and the window where [he] was rocked to sleep”, as he had “long missed thee,
Aira”. (Lovecraft, 45) Furthermore, an additional idea which reasons to why Iranon was not willing to search the world to find his home, relates to what was previously discussed in our lecture. In my perspective, this character from Lovecraft may feel previously accustomed to his lifestyle in Aires, so did not feel the need to be imprisoned in a life of mere displeasure, as one day or another, he would be meeting with death, so why not spend life preciously. Therefore, the origin to why Iranon is not able to leave the earth alone, ties with him being curious of an improved environment, where he will be able to exemplify his talents, and not be caged by the reality of his current state in life.
