Some experiments done on the animals include measuring eye tissue damage, the level of skin irritancy, and even the toxicity levels of substances used in products, such as facewash. Another test that animals have to go through is called the Draize Test. This is when substances are put into the eyes of conscious rabbits to evaluate the damage and irritation of their eyes. This is extremely painful for the rabbits and they often break their necks in order to release themselves from the restraints they are held in. After the rabbits being tested die, the scientists alter the substance or product and try it on yet another rabbit.
