Bullying is it a Learned Behavior?
Introduction
“Historically, school bullying has not received a great deal of attention from academic researchers; policy makers or the general public [until the amount] of suicides became media attention” (Neiman, S., 2012). Bullying does not discriminate to whom or where it happens. Bullying has occurred for many decades at school, on the playground, jobs; any place a person has experienced an unpleasant encounter with another individual. How an individual deals with the complexities of life can be based on problem solving techniques provided by the parents. Programs and resources are made available through school and social media. Understanding the “warning signs and risk factors” will help intervene and detour the situation. Social media once was a plaque to bullying, but now it has become a voice. School policy and the Anti-bullying law will help minimize bullying, but not completely prevent it. The information is to help educate and understand why this happens. It is so we as a society can prevent it and be aware to stop it; for individuals to stop being a bystander to have a voice and stop the intimidation. As parents we must ask ourselves are we contributing to the problem and seek help if there are things that need to be change to improving the quality of life for our children and …show more content…
