Chivalry has never been real from the beginning of time. “Chivalry” was just a practice of being nice to women in ancient times. The world has changed a lot sense ancient times. Ancient times are called just that for a reason, they are ancient and in the past. Ancient times are based on ancient thinking that is even older than the times itself. To move forward in today’s world you have to think towards the future, not in the past. To think of chivalry as being “alive” is preposterous. Chivalry is merely just a state of mind, not an act. Men from ancient times automatically thought they were supposed to be nice to women based purely on the fact that they are women. In reality, no matter whether you are a man or a woman you need to respect all others around you in order to receive respect in return. You should never automatically expect to get respect based on being a certain race, religion, creed, etc.
During the medieval times, great adventures and accomplishments of spectacular feats were told of mortal humans know as Knights. Knights were seen to be the unstoppable, displaying their gentlemanly manners throughout every aspect, which they lived, from social events to acts of brutal combat against their enemies. Every action of a Knight would be done with honor, courage, respect and courtesy. Knights who demonstrated these characteristics were seen as chivalrous. The dictionary defines chivalry as, “The qualities of an ideal knight, courage, honor, gallantry and courtesy”, to this, the ideas and concepts of chivalry are viewed by most in modern society to be a forgotten, ancient idea lost in the chaotic pace of modern time. Soldiers show courage when they fight to protect others, this to me is the only true “chivalry” left in this world
