Is Fueling NASA, The Key To Unlocking The Universe?
Fueling NASA, the Key to Unlocking the Universe Could Mars be the next planet humans inhabit? Who will be the first to determine how to get to this red-dirt home, the governments of the world or private companies? Robert Gebelhoff, in an article for the Washington Post, stated that the Space Race is far from over in today’s society, and the stakes are just as high as before (Gebelhoff 3). With the idea of leaving Earth looms overhead, scientists and engineers are busy at work coming up with theories on how to leave the Earth’s atmosphere. The United States Government should continue and increase funding for NASA to develop space vehicles and further space exploration. This funding would encourage innovation, much like during the Space Race in the 1960s; advances in space technology provide more protection for the country and new opportunities. Lastly, the funding needed by NASA is not as massive as compared to previous years.
Firstly, government funding for NASA increased innovation in the Space Race, will continue to do so in today’s world. According to Robert Gebelhoff, the government has a major part in making innovation happen by dividing funding (Gebelhoff 2).
