Patrick Buchanan’s “Is Liberalism a Dying Faith?” is a true depiction of the failures that have resulted in the country as a result of liberalism dying over the last five decades or so. Perhaps, problems such as immigration, racial segregation, and divisive political ideologies all fall in line with the end of liberalism and the principles it pertains to. In fact, as Buchanan puts it, “asked to name the defining attributes of the America we wish to become, many liberals would answer that we must realize our manifest destiny since 1776”, however, the world as described in the article, including the European nations seems to have be gone the very principles that the nations were founded upon. The world has become a global village, with nations increasing their trade partnerships and tourism. This has thereby ensured that borders are essentially opened up to allow easier flow of goods and people. Supposedly, this would mean that people more free to move around, but that has not been the case. Even though immigration would potentially mean diversification, nonetheless, nations such as Austria are promoting statements such as “Austria for Austrians”. With a majority Austria vote, 60% of the total votes casted, the nation has recently been delivered to Sebastian Kurz, whose anti-immigrant policies greatly go against all efforts of diversification. Moreover, America is critically descending into isolation with the plans of building the Mexican border wall and more stringent anti-immigrant policies.
