Abstract
Modern technology has been an indispensable driving force behind the development of most developed nations and the secret behind the speedy development of developing nations in the world today. It has also helped many individuals in their achievements and attainments. In His words, Steven Guggenheimer (Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition, 2015), stressed this by saying that “technology is the great equalizer, it levels the playing field, it empowers every person and every organization to achieve more.” But sincerely speaking, one will realize that modern technology is like a double edged sword, that is, despite it’s great impact, it also has damning effects. This is because this tool of modern technology has affected and changed many individual lives positively and also negatively globally today. And as civilization is been wide spread globally on a daily basis with modern technology exploring and expanding the world of medical sciences, digital communication, information spreading, agriculture, business, religion, education, etc. hence, there is need of considering the impacts of this great tool that has changed the present age. People view this impact from different angles or point of view; basically how it has affected their lives, professions, family and society. Modern technology is of great effect in the world today. But surprisingly, it is like a double-edged sword; that is, its effects are either destructive/damning or developmental. An undergraduate student (University of the People, 2016) in February 2016 conducted a research with a questionnaire that was majored on the whether modern technology is damning or developmental with a reason to back up the response was quite illuminating. The questionnaire allowed the responders to share their mind and thoughts about the issue in view. The student finally resolved that that 66.67% of humans are with the opinion that modern technology is developmental, with 16.67% holding to the opinion that it is destructive and 16.67% neither with any of the views, they are with the opinion that is both developmental and at the same time destructive. Also, the research revealed that 62.5% of adults and 75% of youths goes with the opinion that modern technology is developmental. While 12.5% of adults and 25% of youths are with opinion that it is destructive with 25% of adult holding to the opinion that is both developmental and
