California has taken action by enforcing more and strict laws about the amount of lead in food. The Environmental Protection Agency calls the metal a “probable human carcinogen
(cancer).” Lead can do many dangers to our body especially kids and teens. Lead can damage the reproductive system causing problems in a teen. Children can on take in fifty percent of the lead as there body is still developing causing kidney problems and in their ability to pay focus. Children can only eat five grams of lead meaning only one bar of chocolate as one bar has about five grams. An adult can eat more but can have the same problem a kid or teen; yet according to the California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, products must be labeled if they contain chemicals that can cause cancer risk or cause birth or reproductive harm. Even though this act is not enforced in most states, the risk of cancer, kidney failures, and reproductive problems are increasing while chocolate are still in every shelf being bought.
