Explore the concepts related to access control process -- identification, authentication, and authorization.

Background
The scenario for this assignment is based on Acme Distribution Center, a fictitious company. You play the role of Sam, the system administrator. Acme is responsible for completing a huge target of 180 thousand orders. It holds the reputation of having an extremely low error rate for the central distribution per industry standards. Therefore, Acme is viewed as a model of efficiency. Another good thing about Acme is that it operates 24X7 and on holidays!

At the Acme Distribution Center, your colleagues are the following seven employees:
Robert, the lead warehouse receiver
Jennifer, sales and accounts payable
Bradley, the warehouse general manager
Lu Ellen, the shipper
Buster, the shipper
Lloyd, the purchasing agent
Spare, for temporary help

Jennifer works in the Sales Department by day and part-time as the evening accounts payable clerk with credit memo privileges to correct customer orders. Jennifer is a valuable asset for the organization. Since she joined the accounts payable department, the late payment rate has dropped by 20 percent while the warehouse-shipping rate increased by 10 percent, and the overall profit has increased by a modest amount of 0.005 percent for the first reporting period.

Your general manager, Bradley is concerned that there is a high-value inventory moving through the system, but the profits are, at best, meager for high margin items. Bradley discussed the issue of inventory volume with Lloyd to see if he knew of any reason for the miserable performance, since so many high-value items were being ordered and shipped.

Q1. The upper top is going to have to decide on an amount of inventory that would be able to cut cost down but, not to put the amount of inventory to be so short that the rest of the team doesn’t have the materials to be able to finish their orders without creating a conflict with the finance department and not to tie up unnecessarily amount of money in the inventory. If they don’t decide on an amount to keep the stock it is going to keep costing the company on the receiving side of the inventory and increase cost to supply to the customers. The production manager that complaints about being out of stock of any item will not hold water if the supply manager is keeping the inventory at the levels that the upper management have decided on to keep on hand. If they use a keep a reasonable amount of inventory this will cut down on out of stock items, shutdowns, shipping costs, and the fights between the departments. If the inventory then fails to meet the needs of the other departments it can be blamed on the faulty policies of the upper management.…

Lauren Worth is excited about her new job at Cardinal Hospital. Lauren had worked at Cardinal, first as a candy-striper, and then, after college, as a registered nurse. After several years “working the wards,” Lauren left Cardinal to get an MBA. Now, having recently graduated, Lauren had returned to Cardinal as its first “Inventory Manager.” Lauren’s boss, Lee Atwood, is Purchasing Manager at Cardinal Hospital. Lauren has known Lee since her days as a candy-striper, and regards him as a friend. Lee describes himself as being from the “old school” of inventory management. “Lauren, I know that there are sophisticated methods for managing inventories, and, in particular for determining ‘optimal order-quantities.’ And, I know that Cardinal is paying a ‘management-cost penalty’ for using other than optimal orderquantities. In other words, that Cardinal is incurring higher than the minimum possible inventory-management costs in managing its inventories. But, frankly, I’m skeptical about what it will cost Cardinal…
