The people during this time were become stifled with Western influence, the culture began changing from their following their ways and teachings to conforming to the Western religions and beliefs. “God had abandoned Muslims and that Muslims must return to their exact ways of the first community if they were ever to regain. Many reformers came up with three answers with how to deal with this problem, Sayyid Jamaluddin-i-Afghan a Muslim reformer truly believed that Islam was the true religion but concluded that Muslims needed to go back to their old roots. The community was being taught the ideals of the Western people. Although his followers were not getting punished for his beliefs, he caused many Kings and countries much stress since many people exiled him. “His ideas about democracy made the King of Egypt nervous,....Jamaluddin was evicted from Egypt.”(R09_Destny Disputed p.264). Jamaluddin was trying to transform the way the everyday person say there life. He preached that “Democratization didn’t have to mean Westernization”.(R09_Destiny Disputed p.263). Every Muslim had the right to interpret the scriptures and revelations, but wanted the Muslim community to school themselves in the first principles in the revelations. Jamaluddin was forced to bear a lot of the oppression for proposing these ideas. Nevertheless, Jamaluddin called for many people to boycott at times
