The muslims inherited much from Greece, Rome, and India. Muslims tolerated other cultures and because of that were so advanced in scholarship, the medical field, and many others areas at the highest level at that period of time. The muslims achievements will always have a lasting impact on our world.…
The Muslim empire went through great expansion. I think the major key to the Islamic expansion was their military. They conquered lots such as the Greeks. They conquered all who rebelled against them. One way military helped with Islamic expansion is by conquering others around the world and teaching them of the Islamic religion. By conquering others this expanded and increased the Muslim empire and population. According to Document A “The battle they fought at al-Yarmuk was of the fiercest and bloodiest kind. In this battle 24,000 Muslims took part”. This is an example of how military helped Islamic expansion. Another way the military helped Islamic expansion was according to Document C “ Individuals were required to embrace…
Military conquest was one of the primary reasons why Islam spread so quickly. The Document C “Spread of Islam” map shows that between 622 and 750, the Islamic world expanded to Saragossa in the north and as far as Kabul to the east. On the map, there are arrows traveling in many directions. These arrows represent military campaigns. It seems that wherever these arrows go, the land is almost always converted into Islamic territory, therefore, the army’s operations prove to be successful. The significant amount of land claimed shows that the Islamic troops are a force to be reckoned with. According to the Document F al-Baladhuri excerpt, “Hereclius gathered [a] large Byzantine army … numbering about 200,000...By Allah’s help, some 70,000 of them…
Osman Bey: The founder of the dynasty that continued in unbroken succession until the dissolution of the empire. He was chief of a band of semi-nomadic Turks who migrated to northwestern Anatolia.…
Some could say that what contributed to the rapid spread of Islam are their Muslim leader and his god Allah. Socially Muhammad contributed by spreading his visions and new religious beliefs. As he became more known people started to accept his beliefs and visions. Which would later help build an army for the Islamic people to fight for the name of Allah. This also didn’t help either though as he began to gain enemies who weren’t very fond of beliefs. Thus leading him to leaving to go to Medina known as the hijra. Were he ultimately becomes the leader of Medina were the people are more of a receptive audience and this is where his followers becomes very populated. Politically Islam had the upper hand, Byzantine and Persia having been exhausted by the protracted conflicts made them both vulnerable. As Muhammad taken over lands from Byzantine and Persia he began to take in more people, growing his army, society, and religious beliefs.…
The Sassanid Empire served as the revival of the Persian Empire from 244-651 C.E., Persian traditions had endured during this time period and kinships as well as Zoroastrian religion were part of their everyday life. Bedouin or nomadic societies inhabited the Arabian Peninsula as well, with a culture based on goat and camel herding. However, life styles and interactions changed with the introduction of Islam in the Post Classical period. In the 7th century Islam began a series of conquest and conversions, making their potential to become the first truly global civilization unstoppable. Once the Muslim raids began in India in 711 C.E. Islam’s influence changed the Hindu way of life and cultural unity between these and other civilizations began. The introduction of Islam to the Middle East and India from 622-1450 C.E. brought cultural, political, and economic continuities and changes to these societies. Cultural and economic continuities included architecture and the growth of a strong trading system; however, there were changes in political systems from kinships and Persian influence to religious based kingdoms and rulers.…
Unlike the Mongols, the Islamic empire originated out of a religion. Muhammad was born in Mecca around 570 AD. He had a small group of followers in his radically different religion and with them, he created the now known religion of Islam (Pollard pg. 304). The vibrant passion of the believers of Islam is what helped to spread it so far and so fast. Within a hundred years, Islam had spread as far as North Africa, sweeping down the east coast of Africa, into southern Europe, and finally into present day India and central Asia (Pollard pg. 306-307) The Islamic empire contained so many vastly different peoples that the leading rulers, the Abbasids, started to conscript local Arab men into their armies to help keep control. As time went by though, the empire continued to grow and eventually, the Abbasid turned to nomadic groups to be hired out as mercenaries (Pollard pg. 309). This was a shift in how empires created armies. Different from the Mongols that relied entirely on their own strength for all military purposes, the Islamic empire chose to focus on spreading their religion and knowledge and leave the fighting to their hired…
The Islamic Civilization spread so extensively due to their excellent, organized, well paid warriors and the strength of their forces formed from their practices and belief methods. The Quran, and the life of their renowned prophet Muhammad set examples and rules on how to live one's life. The monotheistic people strongly lived in Allah’s word.…

The Islamics had many great achievements but I think their greatest one was building a trade route through their empire. Muslims were able to make such great contributions because they were open minded and had a high tolerance for different cultures. Because of this, they got to learn from the different countries they took over such as Greece, Rome, and India. They had so many different ideas and all that knowledge led to them making great achievements that lasted and made an impact on the world. Islamics had quite a few achievements in math. One being, as stated in Document 1, that they relied on mathematicians to calculate prayer times and also the direction of the Mecca. Both of these were very important to them because their culture was…

In my opinion the most important factor of Islam’s expansion was that other religions were attracted to follow Islam. Many people whose countries had been taken over by Byzantine and Persian empires hated their rulers and welcomed the Muslim invaders for freeing them. Islam gave them knowledge and education; as Islam was the newest…
Prior to the arrival of Islam, Africa existed mainly as stateless societies which had strong political power residing in ruling families, while keeping connections to other societies through the use of a common language and religious beliefs. The connections allowed for trading between stateless societies, meaning that by the post-classical period, Islam was able to spread through the use of established trade routes. Throughout post-classical Africa, the promotion of Islamic power took place through the mandation of the religion by local kinship rulers, the diffusion of religious art in overseas trade, and the importance of the economic relationship between Sudanic states in the expansion of Islam.…

The period from 600 C.E to 1450 is often referred to as the Post Classical period. There were many developments and reforms that occurred during this period however one of the most important events that happened was the establishment and the spread of Islam.
