Introduction
 Islam, as a religion, attaches great value and respect to women.  The study of women in Islam reveals that there has been more than one occasion in the history of Islam where women have been given respect and the Muslim believers have been advised to respect women.

 It must be realized that Islam emerged from the time when there was widespread illiteracy and negligence in the case of women throughout.

 The birth of a daughter was seen as a bad omen, and newborn daughters were buried alive in the name of saving honor for the family.

Discussion
 Islam proved to be the savior in this case.
 The Holy Quran states men and women as being equal in terms of their rights within the society.

 As stated within 4:34, “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient and guard in the husband's absence what Allah orders them to guard.”

 Similarly, a lot of focus has been given to the marriage of women and their rights after marriage.

 It is said clearly that after marriage, a woman becomes the responsibility of her husband and must be treated with respect and her needs must be met.

 While women are to be treated morally, Islam has guided all believers to treat other women with respect as well and not to do any immoral or unethical actions that are strictly forbidden within the Holy Quran.

 It must also be understood that the most basic right of a woman in Islam is access to knowledge and recognition of her existence within the society so that she does not have to demand for her rights.

 These rights are granted to her by Allah
Almighty and must be given to her without any hindrance. Rights of women in Islam
 Based on the teachings written within the Holy Quran, there is no compulsion neither is there any difference amongst the genders.  At the same time, Islam considers men and women to be equal.  There is no superiority amongst them, and there is no discrimination as well.

 It is this sense of equality that forms the basis of a lifelong relationship between a man and a woman.

 The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has also confirmed the equal status of man and woman.

 Furthermore, he has also made it very clear that man and woman are equally responsible for the entire household, and while the woman of the house is a man’s responsibility, the woman has certain responsibilities too.

 One common misconception is that women are not allowed to go out of the house and neither are they allowed to pursue education.  This is utterly wrong, as the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet
(PBUH) have made it clear many times that women can step out of the house, and must pursue education.

 Women in Islam have the right to knowledge and education.

 Furthermore, Islam does not prohibit women from seeking employment.
 If we look at global societies, it can be clearly seen that women are now an integral part of the workforce and are contributing positively towards economic progress.

 A woman has to carry and fulfill the immense responsibility of bearing and raising children.  The upbringing and the proper training of children is one of the many responsibilities that a woman has within the society.

 Islam, as a religion, does not consider gender-based differences and is rather focused on obedience to Almighty Allah that must be the same baseline rules for both men and women.

 It must also be clearly understood that Islam is a practical religion that is highly responsive of human needs and real-life situations that people may encounter.



Islam, as a religion, is considerate of the reasons why women might need to step out of the boundaries of their houses and work.

Conclusion
 I have mentioned a number of verses from the Holy Quran that clearly show Almighty Allah’s commandments regarding an important issue i.e. granting proper and due rights to women.

 Islam, as a religion, has no restrictions on women seeking employment and pursuing education.

 Commandments of Islam are based on giving women their due rights within the society.
