Island Of The Blue Dolphins Analysis

In chapters 6-9 of Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell, we learn how Karana’s younger brother gets them stranded on their island and how were brother dies. All of the villagers get on a boat ship to leave the island for good. As all of the villagers get on the ship, Karana worries that her brother Ramo is not of the ship. The captain of the ship is certain that Ramo is on the ship, but Karana sees him at the top of the cliff. Since they can not turn the ship around, Karana must jump off the ship and swim back to shore to be with Ramo.

Karana and Ramo are forced to take care of themselves. As they’re searching for food on the beach, Ramo decides that he wants to go get one of the canoes left by the villagers from the cliffside. Karana
