Isolation In 'Christmas Eve' By Cathy Song
Christmas Eve is an important event celebrated all around the world. Christmas Eve have the connotations of jubilated and family oriented. It is the time where children gather around in excitement waiting on santa arrival, the time of big family gathering where everyone circle around and reflect upon the year. In the poem “Christmas Eve”, Cathy Song exploited elements such as diction and tone, visual imagery, symbolism and irony to delineate how societal norms promote isolation which leads to the removal of innocent to illustrate the theme of a broken family.
