With a feeling of sandpaper, I stretch my bare feet across the moist ground wishing it would sand away
at the imperfections of my parents' relationship. I am struggling to imagine my future with my disregarded family. Unknowingly, my view is focused into the core of the sun. It is painful, but it feels as if I need the pain to cleanse me of all the stress and trauma. With the temperature warming slightly, I snuggle down to catch a handful of sleep. Hair falls over my forehead catching a tear in its wake.
The tears flow in a persistent stream uncontrollably. Wetting the dark green seat as they fall. My emotions are expressed to the public - people walking on the beach. I get periodic stares which I neglect; I am like zoo animal on display. The crowd thins as the day moves on. It is as if the night is consuming all people as it arrives. As quick a wink, the sun is no longer visible to this beach. Complete darkness.
